GREAT SALES THIS WEEKEND

Another awesome shopping weekend is upon us! Tomorrow Brentwood UMC opens and I ALWAYS go this sale. Unfortunately, my sweet nine year old is having ear tubes put in for the SEVENTH time tomorrow morning. The surgery is no big deal to him but mama worries even if it is simple.

Anyway, I am planning on having a BIG shopping day on Saturday. I always have my Consigning Time tote when I shop so if you see me - say HI!

I love the consignment world! Just heard that the owner of Little Sprouts lent her racks and support to Sweet Peas & Baby Carrots (a growingsale). Competition CAN be friendly and people still help each other.AWESOME! That is just so awesome to me. We all benefit when there are well run and organized sales held by people who generally care about what they are doing. I have gotten to know so many of the sale owners this past year and I can tell you that Nashville is very lucky to have such strong sales and people behind them. Feeling the love!

Big Shopping Week For Me

I need to look at my calendar. I have been so busy volunteering for two back to back sales that I have let the rest of the season sneak up on me! I will be heading to shop at Reruns Are Fun tonight with my new friend Bethany. She loves consignment sales like I do so I am really excited to have somebody to come shop with me.

I am also consigning for the first time at Otter Creek this week so I need to tag my items to their specifications. I must admit, I am a little stressed. I do NOT want to make a mistake on my tagging. New sale for me means new rules and procedures so I need to do my homework. I am very excited though cause I have never seen their presale and I bet it is going to be AWESOME!

WORKING THE SORT TONIGHT

Tonight I will be helping with the "SORT SHIFT" at OABK. This is the volunteer shift where we go through and get everyone's stuff together for them so it will be ready for them to come and pick up tomorrow. It is such an awesome feeling at the end of the night to look around and see how much is left and know that it has been an awesome sale.

I plan on sleeping in tomorrow morning and then heading out to some of the great sales. Will I see you shopping tomorrow?

WHY DO I VOLUNTEER AT CONSIGNMENT SALES?

Here are some of the reasons I volunteer at consignment sales....

1. I get to shop before the consignors shop (That Little Tykes picnic table - MINE!)

2. I get to hang out with people who love consignment sales - just like me.

3. I get to spend a few hours talking to people that are over three feet tall.

4. I can find the clothes that I insist my children wear for Easter morning without having to pay a fortune for them.

5. I get to take my stuff home after I do the sort shift and not have to get up and come back for pick-up time. (Still at home snuggled in my jammies)

6. At some sales, if you volunteer multiple shifts then you keep more of your money with a higher split. (I like my money.)

7. At some sales, volunteers do not pay participation fees. (Again - I like my money)

8. At some sales, there is a room full of yummy snacks to munch on while you work. (NOTE TO SALE OWNERS - I can be bought with Diet Coke, Peanut M&Ms and Trail Mix!)

9. I get to advertise for Consigning Time by wearing my CT hat while I work. (Love my hat!)

10. I get to make some very good friends because you tend to volunteer for the same sale with the same people and over time - become good friends. (My friends rock!)

These are just some of the reasons I volunteer. What are some of yours?

THOUGHTS ABOUT LONG LINES......

YES - at some sales there are very long lines. If you go to one of the bigger sales on the first day of the sale - then you are going to stand in line for a long time. There are just too many people trying to shop at the same time on the first day and the cash registers are manned by volunteers which results in a long wait.

If you go on the first day, bring a snack, a bottle of water, and plan to make a new friend while waiting in line. The positive of going the first day is you are seeing a HUGE amount of stuff and get a wonderful selection. NOW - I personally stopped attending the FIRST day of huge sales several years ago. I just do not enjoy waiting in line that long and what I discovered is that because there is SO much stuff that if I wait until the second day there are still lots of good things still there. In fact, the best part to me is the Half-Price day because there are so many great clothes left you can grab a real bargain.

The wonderful thing about our area is that we have a great variety of sales and there is something for everyone! Try to be patient and enjoy the fun of consignment.

And shop I did! I shopped at the WeeWares workers' sale last night and it was AWESOME! My kids think consignment season is like one huge holiday cause I come home with so much great stuff. Like the Spiderman bike with training wheels in like new condition for $12! My four year old was THRILLED.

Can't wait to work again on Saturday. I always have so much fun when I volunteer.
